Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson, has today announced that Dapto Leagues Club will receive $40,000 towards the upgrade of Mullet Creek Weir, under the NSW Government’s Habitat Action Grants Program.
This program provides grants that assist recreational fishing groups, local Councils and community groups to rehabilitate degraded fish habitat through a range of works, including revegetation of river banks, re-snagging, restoring water flows and fencing to protect creek banks.
Under this program 26 unique fish habitat projects across NSW will share in over $554,000 in grants.
“I wish to congratulate Dapto Leagues Club on its successful application. The $40,000 received will go towards the upgrade of Mullet Creek Weir, which will include the construction of a fishway,” said Ms Watson.
Funding for these grants is provided through the Recreational Fishing Trusts, from money raised by the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee.
