School zone flashing lights will be erected outside the Lakelands Public School before the end of the year, Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson, announced today.
“I am delighted that the Minister for Roads and Freight has advised me that school zone flashing lights will be erected outside the Lakelands Public School.
“The installation of the school zone flashing lights will ensure increased student pedestrian safety of the nearly 300 students who attend the school every day from the school’s catchment area”, she said.
Ms Watson said that Minister had also agreed for Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) to conduct a new traffic and pedestrian count for the Lakelands Public School to see whether it was eligible for a school crossing supervisor.
“As the local State Member, I will do everything I can to ensure every possible precaution is taken to ensure the safety of students moving to and from the schools in my electorate along very busy roads”, she said.
