Member for Shellharbour Anna Watson today accused the faceless Minister for the Illawarra of putting on humiliating media publicity stunts to hide the fact that not a single Illawarra Infrastructure Fund project had actually started construction two years after the sale of the Port of Port Kembla was announced.
“The faceless Minister for the Illawarra, John Ajaka, was out there today with the Members for Kiama and Heathcote prancing around a project site in Kanahooka with just a map.
“No building under way, no sod turning, just prancing around with a map.
“This is just becoming a humiliating publicity stunt exercise to simply hide the fact that not a single project has actually started after two years since the Port of Kembla was announced for sale by the State Government.
“This media stunt today was sold as a ‘site inspection’.
“One would have thought the ‘site inspection’ would have taken place months ago prior to the project getting funding approval.
“The media stunts by the faceless Minister for the Illawarra, and Members of Kiama and Heathcote only serve to highlight the fact that the timetable for the start of projects approved for funding under the Illawarra Infrastructure Fund are way behind schedule.
“Perhaps these three Liberals should put more effort into getting the projects started and built than media stunts prancing around an empty paddock”, Ms Watson said.
