The State Government will conduct public consultations on the future use of the de-commissioned Dunmore Station later this year, Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson said today.

“I am pleased that the State Government will take the local community into its confidence in determining possible future uses of the historic Dunmore Station.

“This new approach of community consultation stands in contrast to the way the State Government simply ignored the community when it built the Shellharbour Junction Station.

“That approach saw unnecessary controversy over the naming of the new station and new toilet facilities were simply left off construction plans”, she said.

Ms Watson said that she would continue to ask the Minister to provide further details of the consultation process.

“It’s good to see that this new Minister seems to have noticed the errors of his predecessor.

“But we have to nail down some key details on what this consultation process will involve”, she said.
