The State Government is considering the upgrade of the Dapto Station commuter carpark following a call by Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson.
“I welcome that the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance MP, has indicated he is giving consideration to upgrading the Dapto Station commuter carpark.
“The Minister has indicated that the upgrade will be considered as part of the next round of projects under theTransport Access Program (TAP).
“The Dapto Station commuter carpark is nearly at capacity and parking is starting to flow into the street.
“If we want to encourage the use of public transport, we need to make it as easy as possible for commuters to park while accessing public transport services.
“The upgrade of the Dapto Station commuter carpark is in an ideal location as adjoining land, which currently stores rail equipment, could be used to rapidly expand the carpark.
“Although there is no specific timeframe given by the Minister at this stage, I do welcome that my call for the need to expand the carpark has been heard by the State Government.
“I will continue to argue the case for an upgrade to the Dapto Station commuter carpark as soon as possible”, she said.
Ms Watson said that upgrading the Dapto Station commuter carpark was one of her key priorities for this Parliamentary term.
The Dapto Station Commuter Station current has up to 97 car places available.
