Member for Shellharbour Anna Watson today said the Illawarra Liberal Party looked more like a fight club than a united political party heading into an election campaign.
“We’ve got Gareth Ward publicly fighting with Ann Sudmalis over the funding to upgrade the Princes Highway.
“Shelley Hancock is fighting the Federal Liberals over imposing the $20 GP co-payment and attacks on Medicare.
“Each Illawarra Liberal MP is involved in some fight with their Federal Illawarra Liberal colleagues.
“It’s very clear that Illawarra State Liberal MPs are very worried by the messages they are getting in the local community that local people simply don’t like the agenda of Tony Abbott.
“Illawarra State MPs, like Gareth Ward and Shelley Hancock, are now deliberately picking fights with their Federal counterparts in the hope that this may fool their local communities into thinking they really aren’t part of the Liberal Party.
“The Illawarra Liberal Party looks more like a fight club than a political party”, Ms Watson said.
