LABOR GUARANTEES FUNDING FOR ILLAWARRA WOMEN’S HEALTH CENTRE

MEDIA RELEASE

A Foley Labor Government will guarantee $50 million in funding for women’s health centres across the State, including for the Illawarra Women’s Health Centre, Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson, announced today.

“Over the last four years, women’s health centres have faced an uncertain future under the Liberals’ on-going reviews of funding for non-government health programs.

“Labor’s commitment will guarantee the State Government’s current annual funding of $8.7 million for the next five years and provide an additional funding boost of $1 million per year for the next five years to expand counselling and support services for women who have been the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

“There are 21 women’s health centres across the State and one is located at Warilla in my electorate.

“I’m very pleased that under Labor, the Illawarra Women’s Health Centre will continue to operate with guaranteed funding and additional funding to help women who have been the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault”, Ms Watson said.
