LIBERAL PROMISE AS HOLLOW AS A DONUT – LIBERALS’ ALBION PARK RAIL BYPASS LEAVES $50 MILLION BLACK HOLE

MEDIA RELEASE

The Liberals’ announcement of $550 million funding for the Albion Park Rail Bypass leaves a $50 million black hole leaving the project as hollow as a donut, Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson said today.

“$550 million is about $50 million short for the construction of the Albion Park Rail Bypass.

“The Liberals’ have left a gaping $50 million black hole in this project.

“The Premier’s announcement today, with this massive black hole, simply means the promise to build the Albion Park Rail Bypass is as hollow as a donut.

“I find it inexplicable that Gareth Ward MP has made such a hollow promise when he spent $1.1 million over the last four years on a Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) which explicitly says the bypass construction is estimated to cost $600 million.

“It just shows that in the rush to have an election stunt at the go-karts 12 days from the election, Gareth Ward and my Liberal opponent in Shellharbour have left a gaping hole in the total funding required for the Albion Park Rail Bypass.

“This is simply an embarrassing oversight by the Liberal Party and Gareth Ward MP on an important infrastructure project for the southern Illawarra”, Ms Watson said.
