Minister is flush with excuses on station toilets

MEDIA RELEASE

Member for Shellharbour Anna Watson said today the Minister for Transport was flush with excuses over the future of toilet facilities at Shellharbour Junction station.

“The Minister indicated that a letter I received from her on 12 January was written in December 2014 but only posted late last week.

“Perhaps the Minister needs to explain why her own letter is date stamped 5 January 2015?

“I’m growing very tired of the flippant way the Minister deals with representations on transport issues in the Illawarra.

“All local MPs get is spin from a Minister flush with excuses.

“I want the Minister to precisely explain when and where these new toilet facilities at Shellharbour Junction will be provided and on what date they will be ready for use.

“It remains a mystery why the Minister would approve and then officially open a new $39 million station without any toilet facilities.

“The former State Labor Government built the Oak Flats station just down the road from Shellharbour Junction with no controversy and included toilets for each gender.

“It’s time for the Minister to close the lid on this issue”, Ms Watson said.
