The glossy 69 page Illawarra Shoalhaven Plan is full of empty rhetoric and delivers just another level of bureaucracy, Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson said this afternoon.
“This plan contains nothing but glossy rhetoric, which has no funding commitment and no timelines on the delivery of projects.
“The only concrete thing delivered by this plan is more bureaucracy and yet another new committee – a so-called Coordinating and Monitoring Committee.
“If this plan is to be taken seriously by anyone, the State Government must provide details of how it will fund projects and provide a precise timeline for construction and delivery of the projects”, she said.
Ms Watson said that she also questioned whether the State Government would publish an annual monitoring report to provide “…detailed reporting against the outcomes in the Plan”.
“The State Government released its Regional Transport Plan last year and promised that an annual report would be published.
“We’re nearly at the end of the year and 12 months later we are yet to see any evidence of the annual Regional Transport Plan report we were promised”, Ms Watson said.
