PREMIER MISSING IN ACTION ON STEEL JOBS CRISIS – LETTER REVEALS

MEDIA RELEASE

Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson, late this afternoon released a letter from the Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, The Hon Catherine Cusack MLC, which refers her previous letters addressed to the Premier on the BlueScope Steel jobs crisis to another Minister for consideration.

“This Government is just like dealing with a post office.

“Letters addressed to the Premier get referred to someone else.

“I wrote to the Premier twice about the steel crisis and both times urged him make a ministerial statement on what his Government will do to deliver on the request made by BlueScope Steel in a recent meeting.

“Late this afternoon, I received the (attached) letter from the Premier’s Parliamentary Secretary referring my letters to the Premier to the Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy.

“It’s like being at a three year-olds birthday party.

“The Premier plays pass the parcel over a real crisis of confidence in the Illawarra”, she said.

Ms Watson also said the Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP may also be less than pleased by the letter.

“It doesn’t even mention Mr Ward at all, and he is supposed to be the Premier’s Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast”, she said.
