SYDNEY WATER WORKS AT LAKE ILLAWARRA

Member for Shellharbour Anna Watson today said that Sydney Water would be investigating and repairing wastewater pipes and maintenance holes along Pur Pur and Addison Avenues, Lake Illawarra over the next few months.

This work is part of Sydney Water’s SewerFix Program to improve the wastewater systems and protect public health and the environment.

Work will be done between July 2015 and December 2015.

The work includes:

  • inspecting and repairing maintenance holes
  • inspecting pipes with closed circuit television (CCTV)
  • cleaning pipes
  • installing structural liners in  pipes
  • rehabilitating wastewater junctions.

During the work residents may notice an increase in vehicle movements, noise, odour and temporary disruption to pedestrian and traffic movements. Traffic and pedestrian management controls will be in place to ensure public safety. Every effort will be made to minimise any impact on the local community.

Affected residents, businesses and the local council will be notified of this work.

This work should not disrupt wastewater or water services.

Sydney Water and its contractors will make every effort to minimise any impact this work may have on the local community, Ms Watson said.
