BUSINESS SUPPORTS “BRING FORWARD” OF REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING IN STATE BUDGET

MEDIA RELEASE

The NSW Business Chamber has called on the State Government to “bring forward” funding for regional infrastructure projects in the State Budget.

The NSW Business Chamber has publicly released its 2016-17 Budget Submission today.

The submission says:

…there has been little detail forthcoming on the announcement of regional infrastructure projects.

We call on the Government to use the budget process to bring forward priority projects funded under Restart NSW for regional NSW to help support business, investment and employment growth outside metropolitan centres.

Member for Shellharbour Anna Watson has been calling on the State Government since the last election to bring forward funding for the upgrade of Shellharbour Hospital and the construction of the Albion Park Rail Bypass.

Comments attributable to Anna Watson MP:

“The State Government should listen to its business boosters to bring forward funding for regional infrastructure projects.

“The Illawarra has $800 million of promised investment locked up in Sydney for two key infrastructure projects promised by the NSW Liberals from the last election.

“There’s no excuse now for the Government to keep withholding funding for regional infrastructure projects until the eve of the 2019 election.”
