The State Government has released figures showing that the Service NSW Centre at Warrawong has the highest customer service numbers in the Illawarra, while the Kiama Service NSW Centre has the lowest.

The customer numbers seen by Service NSW Warrawong include customers from the suburbs of Dapto, West Dapto, Haywards Bay, Shellharbour, Flinders, Warilla, Oak Flats, Mt Warrigal, and Lake Illawarra.

However, the State Government is refusing to release figures for customers in the postcodes 2528, 2527, 2529 and 2530 from the Shellharbour electorate claiming these are “unavailable”.

Over the period between November 2015 and 23 March 2016, statistics show:

  • Warrawong – more than 40,400 customers
  • Wollongong – more than 34,700 customers
  • Corrimal – more than 20,000 customers
  • Kiama – more than 17,600 customers.

The current Service NSW Shellharbour digital store, which the State Government concedes is “by their nature temporary”, has seen more than 8,700 customers during the period November 2015 and February 2016.

The State Government has refused calls to establish a Service NSW Centre in the Shellharbour electorate since it closed the RMS Motor Registry at Stockland Shellharbour last November.

The Shellharbour electorate is the only one in the Illawarra without its own Service NSW Centre.

“The Government is refusing to collect the postcodes of Shellharbour electorate residents who are using the Warrawong Service NSW Centre because it knows it will show a clear need for a Service NSW Centre to be established in my electorate.”
