Is Gareth Ward planning to abandon the state seat of Kiama for a tilt at the Federal Parliament?

That’s the question Shellharbour MP, Anna Watson is asking after a revelation in Fairfax Media that Mr Ward is undermining the current Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis after she supported a resolution attacking the State Government over local government amalgamation on the South Coast.

The article published today online suggests:

…the likelihood that influential Liberals in that area, Gareth Ward, the Kiama MP and Transport Minister Andrew Constance are both considering a tilt for Gilmore in 2019.

“It is extraordinary that the Liberal Party on the South Coast is now a war zone on the eve of a Federal election.

“Ann Sudmalis is under threat by the backroom boys of the Liberal Party simply because she told the truth about the State Government and opposed its plans for the amalgamation of Kiama and Shoalhaven Councils.

“But it seems the real reason she’s being undermined is so Gareth Ward can abandon the seat of Kiama for the seat of Gilmore”, Ms Watson said.
