NEW HEALTH CARE CENTRE PLANNED FOR WEST DAPTO

MEDIA RELEASE

The State Government is moving to adopt a NSW Labor election pledge to establish a new health care centre for West Dapto, Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson, has announced today.

“I am very pleased that the State Government has accepted that with a growing population at West Dapto, a new health care centre is required to ensure affordable access to primary health care is available to families and pensioners.

“I’m obviously very delighted that the State Government is adopting NSW Labor’s election pledge to establish the new health care centre in the West Dapto area”, she said.

Ms Watson said that NSW Labor’s election pledge to establish a “One Stop” health care centre involved the provision of primary community health services such as nursing, oral health, mental health, physiotherapy and podiatry.

West Dapto was chosen as one of 19 other selected sites across the state under Labor’s Care Co-location Program announced during the March state election.

The new West Dapto health care centre will form part of the Integrated Primary and Community Health Care Strategy under development by the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, which will be completed this financial year.

The Integrated Primary and Community Health Care Strategy will determine the scope, capital footprint and associated resources required to develop the West Dapto health care centre.

“Once the strategy is completed I look forward to seeing the necessary funding allocated as soon as possible to ensure that West Dapto residents have access to a new range of one-stop-shop primary health care services”, Ms Watson said.
