The decommissioned Dunmore Station site will be maintained and its use reviewed in five yearsfollowing community consultations.
Consultations were undertaken with a range of stakeholders, including Dunmore residents, Shellharbour Council, NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, lllawarra Light Railway Museum Society, Australian Railway Historic Society, Tongarra Heritage Society, Train Works and National Trust of Australia.
The consultations took place between July and September last year.
The Dunmore Station was decommissioned when the new Shellharbour Junction Station was officially opened in November 2014.
Comments attributable to Anna Watson:
“I’m pleased the old Dunmore Station site will continue to be maintained.
“I had concerns that the State Government may have been tempted to demolish the historic station to save on costs.
“The community now has a significant period of time to give active consideration to ideas on how to use the site when its use will be reviewed again.”
