Danna Nelse, Manager, Community Development, The Rail Neighbourhood Association has been named the Shellharbour Electorate’s Woman of the Year 2016, Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson announced today.
“Danna is a tireless active community leader, helping countless families, children and young people in the Albion Park Rail area.
“She is a powerhouse behind The Rail Neighbourhood Association where her work provides a safe environment for children and adults and runs a range of programs and activities for the local community.
“I am absolutely delighted to have been able to nominate Danna as the Shellharbour electorate’s 2016 Woman of the Year.
“It is a fitting recognition of her work and passion for the welfare of our local community”, she said.
Ms Watson also acknowledged the nominations of her Illawarra Parliamentary colleagues for their electorate’s Woman of the Year 2016, including:
– Ms Karen Anstiss, nominated by Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock
– Ms Meikle Bennett, nominated by Member for Heathcote, Lee Evans MP
– Ms Maria De La Torre, nominated by Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward MP
– Ms Emily Messieh, nominated by Member for Keira, Ryan Park MP.
A special award ceremony was held for all nominated women across the State at Parliament House on Wednesday, 9 March 2016.
