The hyperactive Member for Kiama Gareth Ward should be focusing on delivering his 2015 state election commitments to upgrade Shellharbour Hospital and construction of the Albion Park Rail Bypass rather than pontificating on four-year Federal Parliamentary terms.

Mr Ward is clearly bored to death in the State Parliament and has re-started his campaign to move to Canberra at the next election.

Mr Ward was instrumental in undermining the election campaign of sitting Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis after she dared break party ranks on the South Coast by signing petitions against the Baird Government’s forced amalgamation of local Illawarra councils – particularly Shoalhaven, Kiama and Shellharbour.

Mr Ward had to be warned off his undermining campaign of Ms Sudmalis by none other than the (current caretaker) Prime Minister.

The election count continues in Gilmore, which is on a knife edge.

Mr Ward’s Government failed to deliver any real funding towards the upgrade of Shellharbour Hospital or construction of the Albion Park Rail Bypass in the recent June Budget.

Mr Ward should focus on state issues and leave federal issues well alone.

Comments attributable to Anna Watson MP:

“Gareth Ward has enough to do as the State Member for Kiama and Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast.

“It’s now becoming clear just why the Illawarra got such a raw deal from the State Government in the recent budget.

“Mr Ward’s mind is on moving to Canberra and he’s kick-started his campaign to get there by pontificating on federal issues.

“If Mr Ward wants to make the move to Canberra, he should hand in his badge as the Kiama MP and Parliamentary Secretary.

“Otherwise he should focus on his day job, which is to get his Government to deliver his election promises to upgrade Shellharbour Hospital and build the Albion Park Rail Bypass.”
