A State Government promised annual update of the Illawarra Regional Transport Plan is more than a nearly two years overdue following its public release in March 2014, Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson said today.
“The State Government promised upon the release of the Illawarra Regional Transport Plan in March 2014 that an annual update on the implementation of the plan would be provided.
“The promised annual update is long overdue and I call on the State Government to meet its obligations to release the annual update as a matter of urgency.
“It is a disgrace that the State Government hasn’t bothered to release an annual up-date of its very own Illawarra Regional Transport Plan which is now nearly two years overdue”, she said.
Ms Watson said that the Illawarra Regional Transport Plan pledged:
…an annual update of the Regional Transport Plan including detailed reports on the progress of implementing the initiatives contained in the plan. (Page 42, Illawarra Regional Transport Plan, March 2014).
“I believe that the nearly two year delay in releasing an annual update, as promised by the State Government in March 2014, is because there is very precious little to show on the actual delivery of key initiatives contained in the Illawarra Regional Transport Plan.
“I would’ve thought if the State Government was proud of its record on delivering the promised initiatives contained in the Illawarra Regional Transport Plan it would have had no problem releasing its promised annual update by now.
“Instead the State Government has clearly hoped no-one in the Illawarra would remember that it promised to provide an annual update with detailed reports on the implementation of the projects contained in that Plan”, she said.
