Community sporting organisations across Shellharbour are set to benefit from more than $30,000 in funding thanks to the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grants Program.

Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson MP, said the seven (7) projects funded across Shellharbour would allow for an increase in participation in sport across all age groups and bring the community closer together.

“It is so important that we support community sporting clubs across the Illawarra. They are the life-blood of our communities and the key to ensuring our children stay socially connected and have a healthy lifestyle. This funding means that local volunteers can spend more time coaching and mentoring and less time running raffles.” Ms Watson said.

Grants of between $2,000 and $10,000 per project were available with up to $50,000 available in each electorate.

Projects funded in the Shellharbour electorate include:

  • Dapto Junior Rugby League Football Club - Reed Park facilities upgrade.
  • Southbridge Boardriders - Shellharbour Kids and Koori engagement in surfing program.
  • Shellharbour Sharks Rugby League - Liquid Line Marker & Scoreboard Roller Shutter.
  • Kookas Cricket Club (Barrack Heights) - Bowling machine.
  • Warilla Lake South Minor Rugby League - Munchkins League program.
  • Dapto Little Athletics - Equipment & shade marquees.
